- To search for a relevant evidence review or overview you can use keywords or strings to either search the Title, Abstract and Keywords of the source article or perform a more specific search for Review Questions that were sourced from eligible reviews and assessed the Review College. A third option is to combine these two searches by selecting All fields.
- Boolean operators AND, OR, and NOT are accepted.
- To get the best results when searching for more than one search term, you should select the relationship between the terms using [AND – OR]
- Using AND between search terms will return results that contain both terms
- Using OR between search terms will return results that contain either of the terms
- The plural form or alternate endings of search terms are automatically searched for
- fish will return fish, fishes, fishing, fisheries, fisher, etc.
- To search for an exact search term, double quotations can be added to the individual terms (e.g., “fish”). To search for the exact term for every element in the search string, check the Exact word box below the search query.
- Using the Build Search String function:
- When searching for multiple terms, click the Add button after adding the term to search input.
- Continue adding terms by adding to the search input and selecting the appropriate relationship
- If you want to search for different terms you can click the Reset button. It will remove all the terms you’ve added so you can start adding new ones.
- Entering a search Manually:
- Every term should be placed within brackets
- (word 1) AND/OR (word 2)
- Terms that should be searched together should be placed within another set of brackets as shown here
- ((forest) OR (tree)) AND (biodiversity)
- A maximum of 2 blocks of terms should be used
- ((block 1a) OR (block 1b)) AND ((block 2))
- Every term should be placed within brackets
- You can specify the period range for the Publication year by dragging either or both sides of the sliding bar
- You must select a review type, either Evidence Review or Evidence Overview
